Do you board my reptile?
No. Your reptile stays in their own vivarium at your home and I visit them there for each booked session.
Will you handle my reptile? They are used to daily interaction.
Yes, if you wish. I can handle your reptile during visits, following your usual routine and any handling preferences you share.
What if my reptile gets sick while you’re caring for them?
If I notice anything worrying, I’ll contact you or your emergency contact right away and arrange a vet visit with your pet. If your usual vet is unavailable, I will use Apex Vets.
Is food included with the visit?
Basic leafy greens and live food (locusts, crickets and mealworms) are included. Anything extra should be requested before you accept your quote and may incur a small additional fee.
How do I get my keys back?
We’ll agree how you’d like your keys returned during the key collection/orientation visit, so everything is clear before your holiday.
Encounters FAQs
Can I hold the reptiles during an encounter?
Yes, many of our reptiles can be handled! Interaction is a key part of the experience, guided by our handlers to ensure both you and the animals remain safe and comfortable.
Are your encounters suitable for children?
Absolutely. We offer sessions specifically tailored for different age groups, making them a fun and educational experience for children, schools, and families.
How long does a typical reptile encounter last?
Our standard encounters usually last 60 minutes, but we can customise the duration for larger events or specific educational goals.
Do you bring the animals to my location?
Yes, Scaled Adventures is a fully mobile service. We bring the reptiles, equipment, and expertise directly to your home, school, or venue within our service area.
Is it safe to have these animals in my home?
Yes. All our animals are well-socialised and used to interaction. We follow strict hygiene and safety protocols, and we are fully insured for all mobile visits. For the safety and biosecurity of both our animals and yours, we simply ask that any household pets are kept away from the area where the event is taking place.
